## Wolfenstein: Expand E1M2 level and persist per-mission weapon loadouts

### Level Data (assets/gamedata/wolfenstein/level-e1m2.json)
- Increase map dimensions from 33×24 to 39×29 cells, adding new corridors, rooms, and wall structures
- Add tile type `5` (likely a new floor or decorative element) throughout the expanded areas
- Reposition existing doors, guards, items, objects, and wall art to match the new layout
- Add new entities: additional guards with patrol routes, machine gun pickups, ammo, health kits, yellow key, and secret door in the expanded sections
- Update player start position and exit location for the larger map

### Game Logic (src/games/wolfenstein/WolfensteinGame.js)
- Introduce `LOADOUTS_KEY` localStorage persistence to record which weapons the player owned when each mission was unlocked
- Replace `_freshCampaignCarry()` with `_carryForUnlockedStart()`, which loads the recorded weapon loadout for a given mission (falling back to fists-only for mission 0 or unrecorded missions) and tops up ammo to full
- Add `_fullAmmoFor()` helper that computes max ammo reserves for all ammo-consuming weapons in a loadout
- Update `_recordMissionCleared()` to capture the player's current weapon list at clear-time and store it as the unlock loadout for the next mission (only advancing monotonically)
- Change "Next Mission" flow to rely on the recorded loadout rather than extracting live state, ensuring consistent full-ammo/full-health starts
- Update `_retry()` to restore the original attempt's weapons but top up ammo to full per the "die → come back with full ammo" spec

Brian Fertig a5b37038d2 Add object props (solid obstacles) to Wolfenstein E1M1
Introduces a new "Object" entity type that blocks movement but not sight/bullets, distinct from walls and pickups:

- **Data**: New `objects` array in level JSON (`{x, y, frame}`), with `data/wolfenstein-objects.json` as the frame registry (Tall Bush, Gold Eagle)
- **Artwork**: New `objects.png` spritesheet registered in `wolfenstein-artwork.json`; placeholder texture via `paintObject()` in WolfensteinArt.js
- **Logic**: Objects stored in `state.objects`, with a derived `map.objectBlocked` Set checked only by movement collision (`isWallCell`) — raycaster/sight/bullets never read it, so objects are see-through and shoot-through by construction
- **View**: Rendered as billboard sprites in `_drawSprites` with ground-anchored positioning (bottom edge on floor) and asymptotic depth sorting that stays below the weapon viewmodel
- **Editor**: New "Object" tool category with dynamic dropdown; click open floor to place/remove (toggle), click wall is a no-op; teal square indicator on board
- **Validation**: `validateLevel` checks objects sit on open floor; save/load round-trips with graceful degradation for pre-existing saves
- **Tests**: Verifies object blocks player movement but bullets pass through

Brian Fertig a6f6b647da Wolfenstein: Add semi-auto fire modes, ammo types, enemy stun, and editor facing picker
This refactors weapon/enemy combat systems to support per-weapon cooldowns,
fire modes (auto/semi), and data-driven damage rolls via ammo types. Guards
now use the pistol's stats for ranged attacks and can be stunned by non-lethal
hits. The level editor now includes a directional facing picker for newly placed
enemies and displays enemy orientation as arrows instead of dots.

Key changes:
- Logic: Replaced single weaponCooldownMs with per-weapon cooldowns map; added
prevFireHeld for semi-auto trigger-edge detection; guards now reference real
weapon definitions via rangedWeapon; projectiles carry ammoType and resolve
damage at hit time using rollDamage(); non-lethal ranged hits apply stunMs to
enemies, freezing their AI until it expires.
- Rules: Added ammoTypes array with damageMin/damageMax; weapons now specify
fireMode and ammoType (projectiles) or damage (melee); enemy definitions
include stunMs and reference weapon IDs instead of hardcoded projectile stats.
- Editor: Added FACING_DIRS constants and drawFacingPicker() overlay that lets
  users click N/S/E/W neighbor cells to set a just-placed enemy's facing;
  enemies now render as directional arrows showing their spawn orientation;
pendingFacingEnemy state tracks the in-progress pick across tool switches,
  undo/redo, and level resets.
- View: Added GUARD_FRAME.stunned (frame 9) which takes visual priority over
all other states when e.stunMs > 0, ensuring the flinch pose displays even if
the enemy's internal state still reads 'attack' or 'chase'.
- Data: Expanded level-e1m1 to 19x21 grid with repositioned doors/enemies/exit;
bumped SAVE_VERSION to 2 since player.cooldowns and prevFireHeld are new
required fields absent from v1 saves.
- Tests: Added coverage for semi-auto trigger-edge behavior, stun application
and duration, melee non-stun behavior, damage roll range bounds, and guard
projectile ammo type/cooldown spacing; updated existing tests to use new
cooldowns/ammoType fields and toggle fireHeld for repeated shots.

Brian Fertig 9b3dccf4b5 feat(wolfenstein): add enemy vision cone, patrol loop behavior, and weapon sprites
- Implement 90° field-of-view check for idle/patrolling guards (only alerts when player is within cone, in range, and has clear line of sight)
- Change patrol behavior: 0-1 waypoints ping-pong, 2+ waypoints form a one-way loop (home → nodes → home → ...)
- Reduce patrol speed to 50% of chase speed for natural movement
- Update editor to display loop closing line when 2+ patrol nodes exist
- Add new weapon sprite images (gattling, machinegun, plasma, rocket, shotgun)
- Extend map parser to support patrol route definitions via `opts.patrols`
- Add patrol routes to e1m1 (guard at 2.5,18.5) and e1m2 (guard at 9.5,8.5)
- Add comprehensive tests for vision cone (inside/outside edge cases) and patrol loop/ping-pong behavior

Brian Fertig a336376a93 wolfenstein: pan/zoom editor with minimap, sliding recessed doors, enemy patrol
Editor (WolfensteinEditor.js):
- Decouple the board from grid size: fixed 900px viewport with independent
  pan (right-drag / WASD / arrows) and zoom (wheel / +/- / F to fit)
instead of squeezing the whole grid in; add a whole-level map overview
  minimap with click-to-jump.
- Grids up to 1000 cells/side (was 48); painting past the edge auto-grows
the grid (preserving content, re-sealing borders) instead of being refused.
- Rebuild the toolbar as a categorized DOM radio + dropdown panel (Wall /
Door / Pickup / Enemy / Patrol / Zone / Erase) instead of a flat list.
- Add a Patrol tool: select a guard, then click tiles to add/remove
waypoints; routes are drawn (dim for all, highlighted for the selection).
- Throttle the reachability validate during paint-drag; flush it before
Test Play / Export; queue game assets in preload() like ZumaEditor.

Doors (WolfensteinLogic.js, WolfensteinRaycaster.js, WolfensteinView.js):
- Player now opens doors by pressing Space (HUD "[SPACE] Open" prompt when
one is in range); enemies still shove them open. Doors animate open/closed
via a slide value (400ms) instead of popping, and stay solid for
  gameplay until fully open.
- Render doors as recessed mid-cell geometry (real depth, producing the "H"
  doorway shape) via a door-aware render-only raycast — collision/LOS are
unchanged; the door visibly slides sideways into a dark socket as it opens.

Enemy AI (WolfensteinLogic.js):
- Idle enemies with an authored patrol route ping-pong along
[home, ...nodes] until they spot the player; validate patrol nodes.

Rendering (WolfensteinView.js, assets, data):
- Add textured wall rendering: per-column 1px source-texel sampling from
the new walls.png spritesheet, darkened with a 'multiply' grey to match
the existing side/fog shading, with per-wall-type flat-color fallback.
- Wire in assets/images/wolfenstein/walls.png and point the art manifest at it.

Misc:
- level-e1m1.json: reworked to a taller (20-row) map exercising the new
  wall/door types; playerRadius 0.25 -> 0.35.
- sprites.md: document exact wall-sheet size, the sliding/recessed door
behavior, guard sheet usage, and standalone image sizes/proportions.

Brian Fertig 0adb689c19 feat(mastervega): refine star map colony info, tech effects display, and turn report layout
- Add colony info layer showing per-empire colony rosters (name, orbit, pop)
stacked up-left of colonized stars with colored bars and connector lines
- Change "Range as light" to "Explored as light": reveal only actually
explored stars (not fuel-reachable) with smaller 1.1pc radius
- Extract VegaTechEffects.js with human-readable descriptions for all
tech effects, replacing raw key/value dumps in turn report
- Expand building unlock rows to include building descriptions
- Reorganize ship completion rows: hull icon and commander portrait now
display below the full-width synopsis instead of beside it
- Bump zuma level 8 config to level 21 "Sun Cove" with new path and params

Brian Fertig 793cb249f9 feat(gootower): add sleeping goo mechanic and redesign levels
feat(zuma): redesign level 7
feat(shift): add 9 new artwork pieces
chore: remove Worms game entirely

- Goo Tower: introduce `asleep` state for pile balls. Asleep balls ignore physics/wandering and cannot be picked up until they gain a clear line of sight to an attached structure. Adds zZzZz visual, editor toggle, auto-play filtering, and logic tests.
- Goo Tower Lvl 9 & Zuma Lvl 7: completely redesigned terrain, ball/pile positions, and pipe placement.
- Shift: register 9 new artwork pieces.
- Worms: remove all source files, assets, verifier, build docs, and game wiring.

Brian Fertig 2268c74918 **feat: add Worms game with full physics, weapons, and procedural terrain**
Add Worms (inspired by Worms Armageddon) as a new arcade game with:

- **Procedural terrain** — seeded Island and Cavern generation, full destruction via `carveCircle`, girder placement, ROCK immunity
- **Bespoke physics** — worm locomotion (walk, jump, backflip, ballistic flight, fall damage), projectile simulation with wind/bounce/homing, ninja rope with corner wrapping, explosion geometry with linear falloff
- **16 weapons** — Bazooka, Grenade, Cluster, Shotgun, Uzi, Fire Punch, Dynamite, Mine, Air Strike, Homing Missile, Holy Hand Grenade, Blowtorch, Girder, Teleport, Ninja Rope, Skip Go (+ Surrender)
- **Match rules engine** — 45s turns, retreat phase, sudden death with rising water, crates, mines, oil drums, chain reactions, deterministic hash-based state
- **8 themes** — Forest, Desert, Farm, Hell, Arctic, Jungle, Construction, Space with full procedural palettes and drop-in art hooks (`data/worms-artwork.json`)
- **Phaser scene** — mode select, quick match setup, camera, HUD, weapon panel, slingshot aim, 2-player hotseat
- **Headless verifier** (`tools/verifyWorms.js`) — 207 checks across terrain, physics, weapons, and match logic; deterministic through the sim
- **Wiring** — registry (iconFrame 92), main.js scene registration, slug dispatch, asset manifest resolver, preload

Also updates `level-008.json` with new solid/spike geometry, additional balls and strands, and repositioned pipe.

Remove the entire Angry Birds implementation including physics solver,
game logic, Phaser scene, level data, verification tool, and registry
wiring. Also delete the build-plan documentation.

Meanwhile, upgrade Goo Tower rendering: spikes now have faceted steel
teeth with dynamic lighting, rust speckling, and twinkling glints;
lava features layered heat gradients, animated flow streaks, and
rising bubbles. Update gootower levels 6-7 and zuma level 6.

Brian Fertig c12371b654 feat(angrybirds): Waves 1-2 — playable core, 8 birds, level bank, wiring
AngryBirdsLogic.js layers the game onto the Wave 0 solver: wood/stone/ice
plus TNT with distinct density, friction and fragility; damage as a health
model with crack stages rather than instant shattering; all 8 birds with
one ability per shot; scoring, stars, win/lose, and a stepSim -> events[]
contract the scene replays as FX.

The load-bearing discovery is that damage must read approach velocity, not
the solver's accumulated normal impulse. The accumulated value carries the
static load of everything stacked above: measured 3.4e5 at the base of a
10-block stone tower, above the threshold that should shatter wood. Wiring
damage to it makes tall towers quietly crush themselves at rest, and it
reads as a level-design bug rather than a physics one. prestep now also
publishes contact.impactImpulse — the momentum needed to stop the approach,
zero at rest by construction. Resting fell to 2.4e4 against real hits of
1.9e5 to 2.7e6, and the whole material table was calibrated by measurement.

AngryBirdsGame.js maps the 2400x1080 logical level through fixed sx()/sy()
helpers at scale 0.78 rather than zooming the camera, which keeps HUD text
in plain screen coordinates. Slingshot drag, ghost trails of previous
shots, level select, star tracking and progress persistence are in. A
follow-camera is deliberately deferred to Wave 5 — it is pure presentation
and cannot be validated headlessly.

Six starter levels ship as the Poached Eggs opening. All stand unaided,
none damage themselves on load, and a greedy aim sweep clears every one.

Registered as slug angrybirds, iconFrame 92, under Video Games.

tools/verifyAngryBirds.js -> 114 checks green. Peggle (909) and Excitebike
(620) still pass; Goo Tower's 2 failures are pre-existing and unrelated.

Brian Fertig abb55d6d7b excitebike: playtest fixes and Wave 5 polish
Playtest fixes (two reports, both bugs):
- Bad ground no longer instantly crashes: holes and obstacles only
put you down above surfaceCrashSpeed; below that you bog to a crawl
that is capped under the crash speed, always escapable
- Steep ramps (45°) no longer crash: launch lifts the bike clear of
the lip, pitch is clamped to pitchMax, and landing angle is clamped
to landGroundAngleMax so straddled cliff edges don't count as
  rideable surfaces
- Harness now drives every ramp at seven speeds; no crashes allowed

Wave 5 polish:
- Scenery: infield and apron shrub rows (bush, apronBush, tuft)
  transcribed from NES track maps
- Ramps given readable silhouette (packed-earth hatch, dark stroke,
  lit crest, sheer-face cut)
- Gaps show infield through lane; lane dividers and cool-zone
  chevrons fixed for alternating-lane contrast
- Snow and night themes retinted for visibility
- iconFrame 91 already painted

Tooling:
- Map reader masks ramp columns to avoid false mud/cool-zone detection
- All 10 track qualifyMs retuned from playtest measurements

Updated build plan and sprites docs.

Brian Fertig 81aa6e00a8 fix(excitebike): rework throttle, heat model, and landing after playtest
Address three fidelity issues found during Brian's playtest:

- Throttle: base speed 150→175, heat now chases a target (0.5 for A, 1.0 for B)
so holding A alone settles the meter halfway without stalling.

- Turbo: overheat window extended to 6–8 seconds (heatRiseRate 1/7s), turbo speed
275→235 against 175 base (57% boost). AI rivals now use hysteresis (heatOff/
heatOn) instead of feathering around a single threshold.

- Landing: tolerance is lopsided — rear-wheel-first is safe (landCleanBack 0.45 /
  landHardBack 1.20), nose-down is strict (landCleanNose 0.32 / landHardNose 0.92).
Crash rates across banks dropped from 1.3–5.9 to 0.2–3.0 per 1000px.

Other changes:
- Qualify targets: max(human × 1.06, expert × 1.12) so a perfect ride has margin.
- Fix NaN in countdown caused by renamed heatRate constant.
- Soak bands re-based; added monotonic ordering check (expert > human > steady > naive).
- Title screen now shows controls and "LAND REAR WHEEL FIRST" hint.
- All 10 track qualifyMs values retuned to new physics.

Brian Fertig 2e8424a4af chore(peggle): update peg color palette to match spritesheet
Update PEG_TINT and PEG_LIT color constants to match the dominant fills
of the peg frames in peggle-sprites.png, ensuring procedural bricks and
fallback pegs stay in scheme. Document that these constants should be
re-sampled if the spritesheet is repainted.

Brian Fertig fba1f0c53d feat(peggle): expand to 25 levels with friend intros and redesigned level select
Expand Peggle from 5 to 25 levels (5 per friend) with unique shapes and
progressive difficulty. Each friend block (Ethel, Kona, Zanthor, Fireball,
Victor) gets distinct names, backgrounds, and level layouts.

- Redesign level select: one row per friend showing portrait, name, power,
  and their 5 level tiles
- Add friend intro screens: video (or portrait fallback), bio, and power
explainer before each friend's first level
- Intros skip on replay/try-again; input hold prevents accidental cannon
  launches after UI clicks
- Add intro videos for Ethel and Kona; document the video system
- Update level generator with `pentagram()` helper and 5 variants per friend
- Verify block integrity, intro markers (1,6,11,16,21), and level name uniqueness
